Aswan is a city located on the Nile River and has been the commercial and strategic gateway to southern Egypt for centuries. It is home to several significant archaeological sites, including the Philae temple complex situated on Agilkia Island, close to the Aswan Dam. The ruins of Philae comprise the columned Temple of Isis, which dates back to the 4th century B.C. Further down the river, Elephantine Island is home to the Temple of Khnum, which dates back to the Third Dynasty

What an incredible day. This was a bucket list for me! We were picked up at 4:15am from our river Nile cruise, I did have feelings of dread to have to wake up so early but equally knew this was something I had to see whilst in Egypt
Our guide was so knowledgeable and also shared information about the local agriculture on the way. Abu Simbel is located towards Sudan, south Egypt and is around 3.5 hours from Aswan, by car. When. You arrive you really see why it is worth the drive.
We spent just enough time there too, so we could arrive back for lunch in Aswan
